Male hair loss is often thought to be caused by wearing a hat too much or stress. Then there are always the rumours that if your mothers father was bald watch out you probably will be too. There is one proven cause behind premature thinning hair in men, and surprisingly it’s something that occurs naturally.

DHT is a substance found in all mens bodies. It is created from the male hormone testosterone. Our bodies synthesize DHT form testosterone on a regular basis, the catch is some of us make a little too much.

DHT the Cause of Premature Hair Loss

DHT makes its way to the scalp where it binds with hair follicles. Not all hair follicles on your scalp are affected at once so it is possble to catch this process early and reverse it.DHT slowly shrinks the size of a hair follicle it’s attached to, this also shrinks the size of the hairs that can grow from those follicles as well. What eventually happens is these hair follicles become dormant an can no longer grow new hair.

    Stopping DHT

It isn’t all bad news, DHT doesn’t mean you go bald. There are several hair loss supplements  topical treatments designed to reduce the amount of DHT that is produced, or block it from attaching to the hair follicles. Treatments taken orally usually reduce the amount of DHT being produced while topical treatments such as shampoos stop DHT from acting on the scalp.

In order to maximize the chance of seeing results from any hair loss product you must use it consistently. Men who don’t seem to get results from any hair loss treatment generally do not follow the suggested instructions for the product.

    Getting Started

For those of you who might be a little shy about buying a hair loss product there are a lot of products available or order online. In fact the hair loss shampoo of choice comes from a company called Nisim can be ordered direct from their website with volume discounts available if you order more then one bottle.

Other manufacturers also sell direct to the consumer and there are also larger skin care and beauty websites such as Sephora and Amazon that also sell hair loss treatments. The key is you must take action. The longer you wait to treat your thinning hair the larger the risk you have of not being able to fully regrow the hair you’ve lost.

When it comes to female hair loss, most people in our society do not talk about it. In fact, when it comes hair loss, it is mostly men that are associated with it. In our culture today, female hair loss is one of those clinical conditions that are not acceptable.  Statistics says that one out of five women is experiencing hair loss, but not a single one of them has knowledge about female balding.
There are numerous reasons why females are experiencing hair loss. External factors, such as diseases, medications, trauma surgery and many others may cause loss of hair in women. There are some other reasons like chemical exposure but these cases rarely happen and can be diagnosed immediately.
The medical condition called “Androgenetic Alopecia” is the most typical reason for females to have hair loss problems. When your mother and/or your father are affected by hair loss, there is a chance that you are going to experience the same kind of problem, too. Aside from androgenetic alopecia, several other factors can aggravate hair loss in women. Reasons such as too much stress, specific sickness that patients are needed to alter their diet, medication (one of which is chemotherapy). Female who are diagnosed with diabetes are also potential candidates to falling hair as well.
Another factor that is considered is the way women dress their hair. When you tie your hair into ponytail really tight, it stresses the hair with constant pressure. With that, hair will eventually break and start to die out. Aside from that, the chemicals and methods that females often use to style their crowning glory are also some reasons why hair in women starts to fall out. Chemicals that can be found in products such as shampoos, hair gels, hairsprays, and hair coloring dye, as well as the constant use of hair blowers and hair curlers and ironing rod are culprits in destroying your hair little by little.
Hair loss can also happen to women after giving natural childbirth. Pregnant women, in many cases, release hormones, the natural skin and hair strengthener in women. This case varies, though: some women may experience a big amount of hair loss while some may just lose a minimum amount of h air strands at a time, some of them do not even notice that their hair is falling.
There are several medications available to help you treat hair fall, most of it are medicines that can be bought in the counter.  There are also some shampoos that are used in treating falling hair. Some doctors use estrogen to cure falling hair, although there is no proven research yet how estrogen can affect hair loss in women.
As they say, prevention is far better than cure, so avoid things that can badly damage your hair. This includes use of hair products that contain chemicals that can badly damage hair when used too much, and also try not to use too much hair styling accessories such as ponytail, hair curlers, and blowers.
If you have noticed that your hair is starting to fall out, there is one thing you must remember: do not panic. Just remember that you are not the only person who is having this kind of problem. Still be confident. Just because you are losing your hair does not mean that you should lose your confidence, too.
