Wednesday, November 7th, 2007The common image that most people have is that the only people who need to worry about hair loss are men who are just getting into their late 40s or early 50s.
Suddenly male hair loss hits them, they realize that the full head of hair that they once had as a young man will soon end up on their pillow.
However, hair loss is not restricted to just older men, there are equally cases of male hair loss and female hair loss — anyone can experience this sometimes frightening problem.
Here are some facts behind hair loss and how it may or may not affect you:
Why Hair Loss Happens
In a similar fashion to your skin shedding itself to make room for a new stratum, natural hair loss leaves the scalp to make room for new hair growth.
This normal hair loss actually occurs in a cycle, in which the dormant hair will fall out and be replaced with new hair growth.
This cycle can easily last for up to six years. This is the normal cycle of hair loss that you shouldn’t be concerned about.
But if you are experiencing rapid hair loss, there may be external factors creating this problem such as stress or a poor diet.
